After installing SP2 I noticed that every so often when
the machine boots up, it wants to perform a "disk
consistency check". I've never seen this before
installing SP2. Anyone know why this is?? If you have
an answer please email me at: rzewe(remove this)

Since it happens only randomly, the issue probably is not being caused
by software. Test the drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from
the drive mftr.'s website. Usually you will make a bootable floppy,
boot from it (set your computer to boot from the A: drive if
necessary), and then do a thorough test. If you get errors, replace the
drive.

There may be problem with your HDD.Run chkdsk. You may also visit
manufacturer's website to download/install run the diagnostic tools to
check the health status of your HDD.
