How do you make a backup of emails? I need to reinstall
Windows XP and want to back up my emails to a CD/DVD
Export function does not give me the option to save to
drive.

If you have partitioned your drive then copy the windows directory to a
partition and call it win or some such. Then when you have reinstalled
Windows to the "c: drive simply import the messages into your reader. I'm
assuming you are using Outlook, Outlook Express or Eudora. All of these have
import functions.

FWIW, I recently imported the OE folders from a W98 drive to Outlook on an
XP drive.
It took me hours to nut it out, but I eventually discovered that you can go
into OE and export all folders from OE to "Outlook", even though Outlook was
not installed on the original machine.
It then created an 'Office Data File', called 'Outlook' (I think it was in
the Windows folder from memory) which I copied to the XP drive and imported
it straight into Outlook there.
That would be the file I'd save to CD.
