Any suggestions? I can burn read/burn CD's... Can read DVD's but CANNOT
burn
to DVD's. No matter what program or what type of DVD used.
Tells me the drive is empty.
Emprex DVD-RW IDE 1008
Firmware has been updated. Nero DVD program is good.. connections are
good.

did sp2 change your settings to 'copy protect' stuff from
being burned? check all setting after sp2 to be sure. and
does nero have a patch for their program to deal with issues.
check windows media player copy settings too.

I get the same results using Nero so I tried burning using XP's built in
burner and it worked. Too bad its a crappy program but at least I was able
to save a lot of data for safety.
In addition Nero wouldn't list my combo CD/DVD burner except as a CD burner.

Have you updated Nero? There are SP2 patches on Ahead's website.
There is no such thing as a "combo CD/DVD burner" all DVD burners can, by
definition, burn to CDs. If you have a 'combi' drive then no wonder it won't
burn to DVDs! It can't! Nero is listing it correctly - it's a CD burner and
a DVD /reader/! Nero is reporting it correctly.
