The desktop.ini file icon is present on my desktop. I
have opened the properties and selected hidden, yet it
continues to show. How do I re-hide it?

Thanks

In Start > Run type
CMD
and press ENTER to open a DOS box. Type
cd %USERPROFILE%\DESKTOP
and press ENTER
Type
ATTRIB DESKTOP.INI +h +r +s
and press ENTER again.
Close the DOS window.

Thanks Thorsten, but that didn't work either. Thanks for
trying. Any other suggestions?

Delete the file. I do not have a DESKTOP.INI file in any of my DESKTOP
folders and there is no problem with it.
