Hi, i have lost USB support in XP SP2, The computer boots up fine, but then my
mouse is USB so it no longer works, it works fine in other OS's also i dont
think my other devices are recognised, the Mouse itself is optical and it
does not light up, i know the mouse works, its new and it works on other
operating systems such as knoppix, thanks in advance, Danny Buck

PS: I'm not sure if ive lost it really, it just seems to be the case

Sounds like a driver problem. Go to Device Manager and delete all entries
under Universal Serial Controllers and reboot. The controllers will be
reinstalled and your mouse should now function.

I've seen several cases of USB mouse randomly not initializing in WinXP
at boot up, unplugging and plugging the muse back in seems to correct it.
