View Full Version : windows icons damaged?

The icons for shortcuts to web pages I have put on my desktop have changed to generic ones.
When I right click the icon and choose properties the usual "e" has a red asterisk next to it and will not let me choose it. I am assuming the icon is damaged? How do I fix that?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Elaine

Hello Elaine,
One way might be via TweakUI (for XP). If this is not
installed on your system, then download it from http://
www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Note: V2.10.0.0 needs Windows XP SP 1
In TweakUI, navigate to
| Repair | Repair Icons | [Repair Now]
