Where did bliss.bmp come from?

I'm just curious and I have been asked before -
Is bliss.bmp a real photo of a real field and if it is
then where was the picture taken and who took it?
If it is a computer generated image then who made it?
What was it called Bliss ? Who named it?
Who knows?

Some people have pointed to a slight resemblence between "bliss" and the set
of the BBC childrens program "Teletubbies" :-) I can't find a decent photo
of the set on the web but you can catch a glimpse of it here....
