windows XP SP2

i downloaded sp2 and when it was installed i only got the
screen with my wallpaper no task bar or icons.i am using
fat32 as i upgraded from me any answers.

That happened (4) times with my Computer. The 5th time I followed the
preinstall instructions to the tee. Except for one thing I unchecked all my
start up items and anything that was connected to the Computer I unplugged
like printer, scanner, etc. So I did my homework to prepare for the install.
