After SP2 was installed on my system it has been acting
strange, and slow loading. Could be this sp2 doing this?
If I remove it and use a firewall like zone alarm, with a
web washer and mail washer, I also use Mcafee virus
protection. Will I be safe not to use sp2?

After installing SP2 on line on a HP Pavillion PC over the
previous WinXP, the PC became very sluggish, took forever
to load a program, etc..

Tried to use a backup from the previous XP, but the
improvement was minimal. Am thinking about a complete
system restore, that means losing 3rd party stuff and data
on the HD, like starting from scratch.

I also noticed that the processor is working on overdrive,
the processor fan is on all the time, which was not the
case before. Hardware problem?

This got me guessing;-(

SP2 is not required for a secured computer it is designed for people who
don't have a clue about security are or just plain lazy with updates,

About the slow loading, it might correct itself in a couple of days after
the prefetch folder gets it act together.I have read this in other posts.

from H/P's site for it first, also all driver updates for
everything from the processor, motherboard to the CD Rom
