View Full Version : Restoring from a tape backup

In order to ensure my backups are working I wanted to do
a test with one file. I did a regular backup, and I
wanted to restore it to a folder on my C drive.

The backup seemed to worked fine. No errors anyway. So I
tried to perform a restore to this folder (I'm using
restore to Alternate location). The restore spins the
tape and everything sounds great. After a few minutes it
comes up with Restore Complete Successfully. When I check
the folder however, no files.
The log says 5 folders, 0 files.

I'm using WinXP Home, Seagate 10/20 USB Tape drive.

Any thoughts??

Patrick

Are you sure the files are in the backup set? Did you execute a 'Normal'
backup? Daily backups will skip files that are not touched on the current
day.
Maybe rename the files in the current location and restore them back to the
original location.
