Problems installing/uninstalling GP software after XP SP2 installed

Hi! Is anyone have problems getting software to
install/uninstall on Windows XP after installing service
pack 2? I have been trying to install drivers for a d-
link wireless card. The system hangs at the "gathering
system information" stage. I have tried installing other
software, like IBM Update Connector, and I get the same
problem. Further, I tried to return the system to a
checkpoint prior to SP2 using System Restore and this
application also hangs.
