Hello All

I'm trying to install Visual Studio.NET on my XP Pro
machine (Lap Top). At first I could not install it at
all. If I wait for approx a week or so, the install will
get a good way through. However it always stops and give
the error

Error 1711, An error occurred while writing installation
information to disk. Check to make sure enough desk space
is available, and click retry, or cancel end the install.

The install takes approx 1.5 gigs to install. I have 8
gig free. I've cleared the cache.

If I click the cancel button, and try the install process
again, I won't get to the product key entering portion of
the install. If I wait another week or so, I will get to
this same point (the 1711 error portion) This is a 60 day
trial version of the software. I have 320MB of RAM, P3
897 CPU. I'm running SP1.

Please any and all help, Thanks

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Common installation problems are usually cured by restarting the machine,
then....

1) Delete the contents of the temp folders, there may be a file in there
interfering with the setup routine of the installer. Get both:

C:\Windows\temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\local settings\temp

2) Turn off all other running programs, especially your antivirus software.
Use ctrl+shift+escape, if necessary, to "end task" on everything.
