I tried installing Globalink Power Translator v6, which ran
on my WinME setup. It was not compatible with Windows XP
Pro, so I played with the software compatiblity wizzard. It
seemed to install and then froze up. I would like to
deinstall what is there, but there is not sign of it in the
Add/Remove Programs box.

There is also no Uninstall program in the folders of the
Power Translator program.

Should I edit the registry and delete any keys with
Globalink or other key words such as PTWin6, Power
Translator, etc?

No, don't play in the registry.

Try this, use System Restore to take you back to a time prior to when you
tried installing the application. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\SystemTools\System Restore.

The first thing I'd try is to reinstall it, and then try to uninstall it
again.

Hope this helps,
Milt
