We have a ThinkPad A31 laptop and are getting the
message "\windows\system32\config\system file missing or
corrupt" Additional information is given about attempting
to repair this from Windows Setup with the original Setup
CDROM. We don't have an original Setup CDROM.

What can we do to repair this?

Thank you.

Carey sent you a link that should help. However because you do not have an
XP CD to access the REcovery Console you will need to download the file that
creates a 6 - yes you read right 6 - floppy boot disk set. This will give
you access to the Recovery Console and you can follow Carey's link to do the
fix.
