Hi Phil,

Despite what your outdated antivirus software is telling you, this is the
sasser virus. Download stinger from http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and then
restart in safe mode where the bug will not be active. Then run the stinger
file. Trying to detect and remove a virus in normal mode is like trying to
change your oil when your car is throttling down the highway at 100KPH -
it's just not something you can do.

Hi,

The error code 1073741819 and the message are part of the sasser virus,
regardless of anything else. Again, your AV detection and removal routines
cannot be trusted in normal mode. Updated and run properly in safe mode,
they should detect and remove it.

Reinstalling the system is pointless, as it will just make you vulnerable
again until you properly update the system.

I have and had stinger running in safe mode 17000 files
clean and nortons blaster fix found nothing as well

System restore was turned off and I was in safe mode

The system is running macfee antivirus version 8 all
updated and running fine

I have ended up doing a clean re install and all is fine
now but I still would like to know what caused it .

Thx

Phil
