24 hrs with SP2 and everything seems ok. I ran Disk Cleanup, Defragmenter,
McAfree antivirus, then backed up everything in sight. Used System restore
just in case, then downloaded SP2. I haven't found any problems yet, but
ya'll be the first to know!

My experience is that if SP2 is going to present problems it does so
immediately.

I've been running with XP SP2 for a week. No problems at all (fingers
crossed, touch wood). I did everything you did, except I didn't back up
anything (foolish) but all went OK and is staying well.
My copy of SP2 came on a CD attached to a Computer Mag (Australian PC
Authority, complete with a separate Install Guide booklet). I'm using VET
anti-virus and all seems OK with it. They did have server problems for a few
days, which coincided with my SP2 insatallation, and made me fear the worst.
But not so.
