Installing progs under xp sp2 help

[Nurdle]

I recently replaced my HDD. I reinstalled XP Pro and
downloaded Sp2 with no problems, or so I thought!

I have been experiencing problems installing certain
software\games. I can see the CD's in the drive and see
all the files on them, but when i try to install
(setup.exe) them they won't run. I have only noticed this
on a few programs (They install fine on Sp1!). Does anyone
no why? Before someone says it....... Yes i have looked
into the firewall being the problem.

I am running none of those progs. (Listed in knowledge
base)
Problems are with....
Simon the Sorcerer 3D. (Won't Install)
Hyperion drivers for Asus a7v8x-mx mobo (Won't install)
Alone in the dark: New nightmare (Won't install)
Lexmark P700 series drivers. (Setup.exe won't run, but
will from add new printer.)
and many more!

Sorry for the "me too" post, I'm having the exact problem
and can't seem to find a solution. Please let me know if
you find the solution, I'll do the same for you.
