After installing SP2 on XP Home, I am experiencing
seemingly random freezing of my mouse cursor which lasts
only a moment and is immediately followed by
a "blingkalingk" sound. This may occur several times in
succession or sometimes between intervals of several
minutes. This somtimes causes total crashes.
Does anyone know what this is? Or have a solution?
Thanks
Jim

A "blingkalingk" sound, eh?
Here's how to identify the sound: Search you hard disk(s) for .wav files and
play each one -- that should be fun -- until you hit upon the particular
..wav file that's making your "blingkalingk" sound. Now look at the folder
that contains that file. That will identify the program using the sound.

Great idea Ted! As I suspected it is a microsoft sound -
actually two sounds in close succession.
c:\windows\media\windows xp hardware remove.wav followed
by windows xp hardware insert.wav. This still doesn't tell
me the source of the error tho.

Does it sound to anyone else like windows is refreshing
its hardware status and detecting some change therein?
