I loaded SP2 on XP workstation (only XP of a total of 5 PCs with all others
on 98).
I can get to the internet without issue.
I can see the XP from the 98 PCs.
I cannot see the 98 PCs from the XP.
I cannot ping any of the PCs, including XP, from XP workstation.
ipconfig /all reveals a node type of "unknown".
I have seen a couple of Questions on this, but the solution of going back to
pre-SP2 is not desirable.

Please advise.

Possible;

1. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310570

If #1 isn't the cause, try:

2. Edit the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\NetBT\Parameters

Create a REG_DWORD entry called NodeType - set the value to 1.
