I upgraded over Wiindows Me to XP Home. When I Shutdown
the computer doesn't turn itself off. I have to kill the
power.

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click Power
Options.
Click the APM tab.
Check to select the Enable Advanced Power Management Support check box, and
then click OK.
If this does not help, it is possible that the standard computer HAL is
loaded while installing XP. So, the computer does not turn off. To, solve
this run a repair installation of Windows XP.
