sound volume keeps getting reset to lowest level

the sound level in the control panel somehow automatically
resets itself to the lowest level (which results in no
sound). I keep having to manually go in to the control
panel and turn up the volume there. Any suggestions?

Are you running any programs that control the sound? They could be
resetting it. Also are you exiting windows normally after you set the
volume. I'm not positive but it may only get stored on windows shutdown.
