Is it possible that installation of SP2 can block
connection of canon scanner to computer? I have all the
software and drivers installed and it worked perfectly a
couple of weeks ago. Does any one have an idea? (I have
Window XP Pro /SP2). I spent and hour on phone with Canon
tech. Her last suggestion was to uninstall SP2. I do not
want to do this if there is a workaround.
Thanks Tom

Go to the Canon website, download and extract the most recent driver =
released by Canon for your specific model, to a folder you will =
remember. Delete the scanner from the Device Manager, and unplug the =
scanner from the back of your PC tower. Reboot, then plug it back in =
after getting back into Windows; you then should get a "New hardware =
detected" popup. Let the hardware try to detect a driver for it (it =
shouldn't find one). Then go back into Device Man. and you'll see a ! =
under the "Other Devices" section. Expand that, then right click on that =
item, choose properties, driver tab, then update driver. Choose to look =
for a specific location for that driver (i.e. where you extracted it), =
and let it update. See if this helps.

Thanks for suggestions. I resolved the problem. I had to
delete SP2. I downloaded the drivers from Canon.
Installed them then plug scanner back in and it works
fine. I appreciate the help
