In order to use ssb 2.0 ports and usb 2.0 device does one
need to use a special usb 2.0 cable?

Even though they are marked as usb 2 cables, any usb cable will do.

USB cables are made different than regular cables in that they have a
heavier shield cable to stop outside interference and noise. You can use
the regular cable if you are within 2 feet of the device otherwise buy a
USB 2.0 cable. :-)
