SP2

I downloaded SP2 after that when I shutdown my computer I
get blue screen of death errors seems to loop back none
of the errors are the same does a memory dump. Checked
hardware is fine, memory is fine. Os is XP Pro computer
Compaq 2.4 ghz 1 gig of memory two years old. Before on
SP1 computer ran fine no errors.What are my options to
fix this other then a new computer.
1. Should I blow out hard drive re-format drive and do a
clean install of OS XP Pro. If so should I download SP2
again and then install all other software after that. I
do know to download updates before installing SP2. Or can
I just download SP1?

2. Are there any files that I can download to fix this
problem without doing a clean install of OS?

I have repaired windows XP Pro by putting in the CD in
the CD-Rom took it back to service pack 1. In the control
panel I stiil see the icons that SP2 put in the control
panel. I feel that I may have some spyware on my computer
also. Do you feel the best thing to do is to run a clean
install of OS. and will this fix my problem? I did not
update my drives before I downloaded SP2 so this might be
a problem also. When installing SP2 I did not shutdown my
Norton Antivirus 2004 program I was told this could also
be the problem.
