View Full Version : CD burning in native mode won't work

I recently discovered that I can no longer burn a cd in native mode on
my computer. It used to work, but now when I install a blank CD I get
the message:
D:/ Inaccessible - Incorrect Function
I am still able to burn a music CD, or a picture CD, but cannot use the
native XP CD burner for data.
I do not use any other software for CD burning other than what came with
XP when I purchased my machine.
Anyone have a clue as to what might have happened?

If you have installed a Roxio CD burner, this will disable the inbuilt
burning engine because Windows XP's engine is from Roxio.

Hello, anonymous!
I assume you didn't completely read or comprehend my original message.
I have no other CD burning software installed, so therefore, I cannot
uninstall it. I would really like to try anything about now, but I
really can't do what you're suggesting.
Thanks for trying, though! I appreciate any help I can get.

NaresH KumaR, I appreciate your input, but,
KB Article 315350 doesn't fit the criteria, because I do not nor ever
have had any Roxio software installed, and therefore, cannot upgrade,
etc.
None of the information in KB 315345 is applicable either. I do not
have any upper/lower filters @{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-080028E10318. I
have not files named cdr*.*. I have none of the registry items
referenced here.
Do you perhaps have any other suggestions?

You're wanting to burn a data disc, right??? It has been posted in numerous
XP groups that writing data to CD cannot be accomplished with XP's native
burning software. CD burning software that includes packet writing is
needed, such as Roxio or Nero.
