That's because its a Word Perfect document and you need Word
Perfect 6.0 or later to view it.

Try Notepad, I wouldn't attempt to open an unknown type of attachment. Why
do you say it's a .wpd file when it's .lnk? See this page and scroll down
to "attachments you don't expect".
