I tried to download and install the service pack 2 but it
stopped in the middle and said I should uninstall it and
try again. I cant find it to uninstall it. When I go into
add/remove programmes I get about a page of programmes
but they don't include any office or windows programmes.
Actually they are all alphabetically listed and mine stop
at the letter e. Does anyone know how I can find and
uninstall this so I can RE-install please?

If it broke your computer the first time WHY would you want to take the chance again??????

I have a client that's on his 7th attempt to install sp2 on a system that is kept quite clean. It's quite comical to follow. Thankfully we have all (not much) his data backed up to a second drive and to my web site for when he finally is forced to do a 'clean' OS install - sans sp2!

Heh I may NOT re-install it but I certainly want to
UNinstall the bit that went into my system its causing
problems. I tried to repair Windows but it didnt help.
I'm hoping I don't have to completely re-install windows
(again!)

People (here) have accused me of not following the sp2 pre-install requirements and/or of not having a 'clean' system before my one and only sp2 venture.
Just the opposite is true. I keep a squeaky clean system. So much so that I wouldn't allow the chance of a simple uninstall to do the trick. If the sp2 can't even install without problems I have no delusions that it's uninstall is also dirty. When I did my sp2 install all went well until I tried the first reboot after all was done. The system failed to boot past the BIOS splash screen. 10 minutes later a 'clean' install of xp pro was in progress. NO way did I want ANY sp2 residual garbage left on my system.

My life is just fine - thank you.

Sitting here with my newly broken leg propped up on a chair watching all the sp2 fiasco stuff is much more interesting that TV or video games!

Total wipe seems a bit extreme but as I cant find it to
uninstall it and as I cant restore prior to that point,
it wont let me do that restore point and there are none
before it :o(

Im hoping someone can offer an alternative?
