*repost* since this was in the wee hours of morning

I wrote this message about 15 days ago, and got an answer
which i appreciate, but the problem seems to have
surfaced again, and i have followed the procedures of
running adware and pc-cillin AV both fully updated, and
the problem still exists: there is a black box where my
start menu is and the start menu is mostly non-
functioning which appears very shortly after login and
simple operation of windows xp. Now i said this in the
original message...the problem appeared with sp2
installation. For my documents i have default, owner,
and all users, as i am the only one using the computer,
but somehow i feel there is some file sharing problem
between them (as when i right click the start menu it has
the option of opening for all users or just this user (my
only way of getting to some of my programs when the start
menu is on the blink) and what really annoys me is that
i'm the only one using this computer and i used to not
have to choose between them, but ever since i installed
framwork or asp net(which was quite a bit before this
start menu problem)...there is now this divergence and i
have to use tweakui to get past the welcome screen
automatically) I hope microsoft addresses this problem
because it seems to be bigger than an extraneous adware
or virus as that has now been ruled out now. Any Techies
got an ace up the sleeve?

here's my original message:

I installed SP2 and now my start menu has a black box
over the left half where most used programs/email&IE are
and the other half...most of the options like run etc say
you need to put a link on the desktop (then the link
really does work.) I can double click programs or
settings and get a separate window menu where I can use
the links there...but the whole thing has just quit
working regularly after i have been in windows for longer
than 30 minutes...when i first boot up it does work, but
quickly degenerates.

It seems like my permissions have been separated and the
start menu can't access some of the links (just a
guess)...i am on the owner-administrator account...only
one account, and guest is turned off. I don't have a
virus, updated and checked with pc-cillin.

1. If you have done a driver update, do a roll back. If not try lowering
your hardware acceleration.
2. Open all users and Explore all users is normal operations for XP.
3. To correct Auto-Logon:

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, left click your user name then clear the Users Must
Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click
OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the "user name
and password" for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)
