A few weeks ago, I tried to install SP2 but, like some others, found myself
in a boot loop. Nothing worked. I had to reinstall XP twice. And yes, this
was after the usual precautions -- Search and Destroy, CWS shredder, etc.
Little did I know that Search and Destroy wasn't as effective as I thought.
When S and D said the computer was clean, I took for granted it was. It
wasn't. I discovered that one file, CleverIEHooker.Jeired, was still on my
machine after being cleaned. There are various options for getting rid of
it -- some cost money; I found one that allows you to delete via the C:
prompt. I then booted into safe mode, just to be as safe as possible, and
SP2 installed. Whew.
