I have a weird problem. My cd rom freezes without a cd in it sometimes.
Nothing will work. I have to reboot. Then....in windows explorer the cd
drive letter doesn't show up and my computer doesn't freeze. The minute the
cd drive letter is in explorer you can bet it will freeze my system.
I don't understand why if I go into Media Player the drive letters come back
and sometimes the drive letters arent' there.
It's too weird. Can anyone relate to this.
Thanks
Kate

I had a similar problem. The lockups occurred when I right clicked on a
drive. Editing the registry to restore default values that a program had
altered sorted it out.
NOTE: Export a registry key before making any changes to it. That way if
your editing didn't help, you can double click the exported REG file to
merge the old info back into the registry.
Start> Run > Regedit
Open to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
There should be a key in the right pane named Default
The value should be the word:
none
If it shows anything else, edit the key and type none as the new value.
Reboot to test.
