Help - i have managed to delete my Office 2000 Premium program. How did this
happen? Well i was trying to free up some disk space and you can guess the
rest. To my horror when i restarted my computer i found there was a distinct
lack of the mentioned program. Much swearing followed. I tried to restore it
but couldn't go back anymore.
The Mocrosoft Office 2000 premium is still listed under Programs but any
attempts to re-install are met with a request to install appropriate disk.
Only problem is that this is that i purchased the computer second hand with
the programs allready installed.
What can i do?
have had a look a downloadable programmes to try and fix but really not sure
what is applicable to my predicament.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
thanks
Ross

Hi Ross

If you want Office 2000 Premium back, you'll have to purchase the
appropriate CD(s). I can't see any way of restoring the program after it
has been deleted.

Insert the Office installation CD and reinstall the desired
programs and features.

Just because you bought a used computer where you got a polluted disk
because the prior owner was too lazy to reformat the drive does NOT mean
you got the software with the computer purchase. If the seller didn't
provide you with the software (i.e., installation media) then you never
got a legal copy of the software. Now you get to buy the software, or
argue with the seller that they never sold you the software with the
computer.

I've see major companies sell off used computers and neglect to wipe the
disks and even claim they were including the OS and maybe some
applications but they never really did. I had an aunt working at
Medtronics that bought a used computer from them and they said Windows
was included in the sale. When I checked, there was no legal copy of
Windows on the computer. Medtronic had not wiped the disk and simply
left it polluted with an old copy of Windows and there was no legal
installation media (as CD or a hidden partition) on the computer. When
I contact them, they immediately realized whomever was in charge of the
sale had screwed up and immediately refunded my aunt for the computer
(which was really a hardware-only sale). Be sure of what is really
included in the sale of used equipment.
