A fiend installed the update from a CD that someone gave him and had a lot of
problems. Can anyone tell me if there is a different upgrade for home and
professional as I suspect that could be his problem.

There is only one single version of SP2. I suspect his problem is more
likely to be malware that was present on his PC before his upgrade to SP2.

Thanks for the reply - the error message he was getting (before I removed
sp2 for him) is "the procedure entry point GET IUMS could not be located in
the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL migrate.exe" After removing SP2 he now
only gets this message when he opend Media Player but it goes away when
clicked. PS What do you mean by malware?

Either that or the "friend" gave him a hacked/warez copy that included some
nasty "extras"..

No - the CD is Ok as I installed it successfully from the same CD but my
version is Professional, hence the question

Malware means any form of nasty program like adware, spyware, hijackers,
key loggers, viruses and worms. They are everywhere and any system that
is compromised with some of this will likely not upgrade properly.
Preparation is the key. See these links?
