How do you access microsoft "CD BURNING" program if it
isn't automatically brought up by message bar? When I
backtrack thru the file system it says it's
in "C:/docs&settings/local user/local
settings/aplications data/microsoft/CD burning" but a
search of those files yields no result?

Through My Computer (on the Desktop). Should get list of drives and
function. Mine is shown under "Devices with removable storage".

The CD Burning program is integrated into the shell. You need to have a CD
in the drive then when you right click the drive icon you will see options
to Write and if it is a CD-R/W disk you will also see and option to Erase.
Alex Nichol's has a primer here that is a must read
