View Full Version : SP2 Trouble

I'm having trouble installing SP2 on a new (not yet
registered) install of XP Home.
I manage to download the update, but I'm then shown an
html page stating that the install was unsuccessful. The
error message I'm given is "0x8024400A". I've tried to
search the troubleshooting section but this error message
returns no hits.
I also tried the online support but a .net passport is
required. As this is a friends computer I didn't want to
install my passport on it.
Can anyone tell me what this error is and how I can
overcome it?
Thanks
Jason

Failing that, please try the Windows Update News Group:

Will, thanks for your reply.
I did take a look at the links you suggest, having read
the post further down the page (and your reply).
Unfortunately I can't find any information as to how to
solve the problem. It seems that a lot of people are
asking the same question, but no one seems to know the
answer
Regards
Jason
