I just updated my WinXP Pro SP1 system to SP2. SP2 seemed to install
without incident and all of my applications seem to work OK.

I then went back to Windows Update and tried to pick up a couple of new
updates (.Net SP1 & GDI). These installation hung. So I manually
downloaded them and then tried to install them. Both hung trying to create
a new restore point.

So I tried to manually just create a new restore point and this to just
hangs. No system activity. No completion.

Any suggestions?

TIA,

josh

You're trying to update SP2 with SP1, that won't work. Once you've updated to
SP2, leave it alone unless MS tells you that you need updates. You're
creating
your own "nightmare".
