Hi all,

My Windows XP SP2 "Device Manager" is completely empty. Whilst
searching for a possible solution, I noticed that the general
recommendation is to stop and restart "Plug and Play". Unfortunately
the Stop and Start buttons for this service are all greyed out /
disabled. This includes both the Services snap-in and within the "Plug
and Play" Service properties dialog.

I was able to set the service to disabled, reboot and then manually
start Plug and Service but the Device Manager window was still empty.

I've noticed a number of posts from people who have had the same
problem but I've not seen a solution anyway.

I'd be most grateful if anyone could offer any assistance

Cheers

Rich

Install xp cd,exit the page,go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:Sfc /Scannow
When the bar graph is thru, type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart, then type:
EXIT Restart computer. Also, run the DOS window in min.,sometimes the
graph runs behind it the first time.
