View Full Version : Freezing the views in Windows Explorer

When I use Windows Explorer to look at picture files, I generally use the
views icon and select either thumbnails or details but every time I leave
Windows Explorer and come back I have to continually re-set it back to one
of the above, thumbnail or detailed view. Is there any way of telling
Windows Explorer 'Keep the file selection parameters same as last time I
used them ?' Thanks, Dan.

Hi Dan,
WindowsXP will remember the settings of up to 400 folders, after that it
starts forgetting some. See this from MVP Kelly for a way to increase this
number:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 2, increase the folder view size limit to 8000
You can also resolve this with the newest version of TweakUI. Get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
After installing, look under explorer/customization, increase the "folders
to remember".\
