As I type in Word the cursor will randomly jump to
another part of the page and my chosen characters will
be inserted into the already existing text. This happens
about every 3 minutes or so and is extremely
frustrating. I don't believe it has anything to do with
where the mouse cursor is at the time, as I have "tested"
my theory on that but I have attempted to use the HELP
section and I don't even know what to look under...any
ideas?

Have you tried disconnecting or muting the microphone?

Where the mouse is sitting on the screen should not effect the typing of
characters in Word. Make sure that your antivirus program is enabled and up
to date. This sounds like a virus.
