View Full Version : Networking other IP's with XP SP2 firewalled

HeyHey Im a Monkey

I have 4 PC's all with their own static IP address. In
Norton Firewall I could tell it which IP's to allow and
file and printer sharing worked fine. However in XP, I
have to disable the firewall to do any sharing.
What do I need to do to get these PC's talking to each
other throough Window Firewall?
Thanks in advance.

Open port 110 for networking.

If you go into the "Exceptions" list in the XP SP2 Windows Firewall you can enable "File and Print
Sharing".

I highly recommend using the "Custom List" to only allow local LAN IPs access to F&PS...

It says that port is already in use by NETBUI. I put in
140. Is that number Ok?
