View Full Version : KAV & SP2's WSC

Win XP Home SP2
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Scanner 4.5.0.97
CPU AMD Athlon XP-A 2800+

The SP2 Windows Security Center says the Anti-Virus is installed but the
status is unknown. But the status is displayed in the Kaspersky Anti-Virus
Control Center, so I suspect Kaspersky can't communicate its status to the
Windows Security Center.

On
http://www.kaspersky.com/faq?qid=151827128
It says K is compatible with SP2:
'Version 5.0 of Kaspersky Anti-Virus is fully compatible with Windows XP
Service Pack 2
Version 4.5 of Kaspersky Anti-Virus is compatible with one exception: on
systems based on AMD Athlon 64bit with DEP mode enabled "on access scanner"
can malfunction (KAV Monitor). '

My CPU isn't a 64 bit.

I realize I can get the Windows Security Center to *not* alert me to the
unknown status of the Anti-Virus, but I'd rather have the WSC work properly.
I see that Kaspersky is listed as a MS Anti-Virus Partner
http://www.microsoft.com/security/partners/antivirus.asp
Is there a way to get the Windows Security Center to monitor Kaspersky's
status?

Well, he didn't like the answer;-)

May be Nehmo is now considering to download KAV's version 5.0...

Yep...wait until Kaspersky bring out an update.

Being SP2 compatible means the program works, not that it integrates
with the new security centre.

I assume you are asking why I posted two identical messages.

I thought my pervious post, with the same content as my opening post
of this thread, didn't make it to the news-servers. So I copied the
content of the post form the Sent-Items folder and reposted – this
time using a more abbreviated subject line. I'm using OE as a
newsreader, and someone might have clicked on Subject bar above the
message list, pushing my message out of my immediate view.

BTW, your post doesn't yet show up on my news-server, but it's on
Google.

Nehmo,

Did you find out about the unknown status? Was there a fix? I have the sam problem.

I wonder about this being an upgrade to fix matter, as I purchased 4.5pro as an upgrade to the 5.0trail--from their prompts during the purchase steps. the 5.0 trial meshed with wsc.

strange.

thanks.
