Hello,

When I went to the MS web site to download updates, it offered me the
option of ordering XP SP2 on a CD. I have XP Home Edition, SP1 installed.

The order that was generated at the MS web site was for "SP2 for XP
Professional Edition". Will this SP2 for XP Professional Edition be
compatible with my XP HOME Edition system?

Or, is there an SP2 for XP Home Edition that I should have had the
option of ordering instead? If there is an SP2 for XP Home Edition,
will it be orderable in the future via the MS web site, too?

Thank you for clarifying this.

There are no separate versions of SP2. The one SP2 package is
intended for all 4 versions of Windows XP:
- Home
- Pro
- Media Center
- Tablet PC

Good luck

Kevin -

One observation that Ron did not mention - realted to the one version of SP2
for WinXP -- si that the power up screen now has only one Windows XP logo
(without the specific Home or Professional designations that existed under
SP1.

SP2 is the same for any edition of Windows XP - Home; Pro; Media Center;
or Tablet
