View Full Version : Recovery console fails after SP2 upgrade

I've upgraded XP to SP2 and now cannot install Recovery
Console by executing winnt32.exe from the PCs recovery
disk; I get the message that the version of winnt32.exe is
older than the operating system version (which, of course,
it is). Is there a new version of winnt32.exe (and all
the other programs on my recovery disk which will
undoubtedly give the same problem)?; or do I have to get a
new recovery disk from somewhere?

You need to build a slipstreamed version of XP with SP2 installed. From
there the recovery console can be installed or executed as needed.

Typical space cadet forgets to put an URL to help the user to do this...
