View Full Version : WinxpSP1: Sort file by date, but folders first.

In the folder you are viewing, right click on the mouse.
When the menu pops up, choose Auto Arrange, then you can
choose if you want it to arrange by name, size, or date.
It sounds like you don't have the auto arrange clicked.
This will also force your folders to be listed first, then
individual files.

Thanks for the reply :-)

I should've mentioned I'm using the details view. The auto arrange is
disabled during that view :-( I click the Date Modified header so newer
files are listed on the top of the list but then folders are listed on the
bottom. That is a pain, I have to sort many new files into some subfolders,
I hate dragging them all the way to the bottom and I like to see the folders
on top and have files sorted by the descending date, it saves me a keypress
(end) ;-) Using the Show In Groups option is not what I want either.
