I have an IBM Aptive 2153 and I am trying to upgrade from
Windows 98 to Windows XP. My system meets the minimum
requirements but the install program flags a compatibility
problem with the hard drive. Here is the message:

Please note that some of the following entries might be
software that is registered as hardware.

Hard disk controllers
Storage Adapter Bridge Module (TPP)

I am having truble finding out what this means. I checked
with IBM and they don't have any hard drive patches for me
and they can't even tell me if this problem is related to
software or hardware.

Could someone please tell me if you have had a similar
experience and what I need to do to correct the problem. I
don't even know where to look at this point and I am on
the verge of purchasing a new computer.

There is a discussion about this error, it is for an older Gateway but you may get
some enlightenment

There are drivers here: You will have to register, it is free.
