Hi

I have a Hardware Firewall built into my Netgear ADSL Router.

This as far as I can tell is not managed by Windows or seen by windows.

I have told security centre that "I have a Firewall Soloution that I will
monitor myself....." and I have also unchecked the box in the "Change the
way Security Center alerts me" under the firewall section, however, every
time the computer starts I'm told that the Firewall is not enabled, I set
the checkboxes up again and next restart.... it does it again.

Any ideas why it is doing this?

Any help appreciated.

Shunt....

Registry edit

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center]
"FirewallDisableNotify"=dword:00000001

Of course it's NOT seen by Windows. It is "external" to the computer. Just
as Windows doesn't know if you have a toaster oven!

Shenan, as far as I know this reg edit, which was suggested some time
ago, has been tested and does not work.

Hmm... Okay - I will postpone posting until I can further test it. I use it
in some unattended installs - and it is still posted as an option on
unattended.msfn.org.

I was posting that as a solution at one point because it seemed to work
for me, but after a short time it stopped working. Since then there was
a discussion on it in here and the consensus was it didn't work. I will
get that thread and post it.
