Ever since I installed SP2 on Windows XP, it takes over a
minute for my computer to diplay the desktop after
clicking on my login icon. It used to take abour 10
seconds before SP2. During that "pause", I can see
activity on my DSL modem. I did scan for viruses and
Adware but I have not found anything unusual. Anybody
else seen this problem?

How long has it been since you installed SP2 and how many boots. It can
take 3 or 4 reboots over that many days to speed up the boot prefetch
and get the optimization to run. If it's still slow do some clean boot
troubleshooting to identify what program/service is hanging up.

Hey ... You can try this too , i have and i notice it
booting up a little quicker for me ...
If you have 512 megs or more of memory, you can increase
system performance
by having the core system kept in memory.
1. Start Regedit
2. Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Sessio
n Manager\Memory Management\DisablePagingExecutive
3. Set the value to be 1
4. Reboot the computer
