disappearing windows

Hi:
Please help. I've searched the posts and XP websites, as well as viewing
options etc. in XP Professional itself. With any window open if a dialog
box appears, if I move the mouse over the window the pop-up box disappears.
The only way I can close or click OK is to minimize the main window to the
taskbar. This also happens when more than one window is open. Is it a
feature of XP? I also have Windows 2000 and it doesn't happen there. It is
driving me crazy. Can anyone help? Thanks.

this started happening on my XP this week after the
recent update the other evening. since then I have
shutdown and logged on 3 times and seems to be fixed.
most of time when something strange happens like this i
just logoff/logon and it's fixed. might work for you.
