View Full Version : Can't install XP SP2

I've tried on both my work laptop and my home desktop. I go to windows
update, have it scan my computer, but it never provided the service pack as
an update. Yet right clicking on "My Computer" and choosing properties
clearly states I am only at SP1.
I've been trying to get SP2 for weeks. How can I get this installed?

Hi
Do you get any other (error) messages at all? You can downlaod the SP2 file
(266 MBs) from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=049C9DBE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en
or order the SP2 CD:
"Order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD"
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

Nope, no error messages. I just downloaded the file, but I'm a little
unsettled about installing it this way. I would rather know why it is not
working the right way rather than use a work around.
I could understand if it was this way for just one computer, but both? For
the last week I figured Microsoft had held the update while some things were
worked out. Guess not...

Hi
Is this via Automatic Update? If so, turn AU off, reboot, then turn AU back
on again.
