I recently installed SP2 now when I click on start and the all
programms list pops up, I cannot right click and delete an entry from
the list. My computer hangs and I have to do a hard reboot after
clicking on delete..any help? TIA

Thanks Carey, but I have done all the steps listed..i have virus
scanner, adaware, spysweeper, windows firewall etc. The problem
started just recently, was not blaming it on SP2, just that it
appeared since installing wondered if related.

Hi Scott,

This may not be related to SP2 at all. Check your settings here:

Right click the Start button, select Properties, Customize. Scroll through
the options on the Advanced tab and put the check mark back in Enable
dragging and dropping.

Kelly, thanks for the response, but this item is already checked off.
Since I last posted I have also attempted to run chkdsk, and when it
asks if I want to run on next start up I click on yes. When the
compurter restarts it goes to scan disk but then says "scandisk
cancelled" or words to that effect, and it boots up. I have run
several virus progs, i run adaware, and spysweeper, my firewall is on.
So not sure what's happening here. Any or all help appreciated thanks.

Most welcome, Scott.

Is Open missing from the right click in All Programs? If so, this behavior
is caused by Norton System Utilities and only for Power Users. Other than
that, check to see if any bogus software is listed here:

1) %userprofile%\Start Menu\Programs
2) %allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs

Suggestion:
Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /i shell32

Chkdsk Issues: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_c.htm#cd

If none of the above helps, run each of these as a combo:

Run Ad-Aware, Spybot and HijackThis:

More info here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_c.htm#cleanup

Note: Update each program, once installed, before running.

Good luck, Scott and keep us posted. :o)
