I have been trying to get the c:\windows folder from not
appearing after I login to the system. THis started
happening after I updated some of the critical patches in
XP. I have searched every startup folder and this folder
is not appearing. Is there a trick that someone knows
where I can get this folder from not appearing after I
login (BTW, this happens to all the users who are
registered on the system). thanks

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
Look in the right pane for any value that has spaces in the path or file
name, and isn't enclosed in quotes.
C:\Program Files\Panda Software\Panda Antivirus Platinum\Inicio.exe
Would be one example. Without the quotes around it, Windows cannot
correctly interpret the path. If you find an entry that has spaces in the
path or file name and isn't in quotes, double click the entry, and put
quotes before and after it.

Thanks for the response, but that didn't do the trick. I
did find the C:\windows did not have quotes around the
path, but it is still launching when I log into any
account.

But did you "double click the entry, and put quotes
before and after it," as Doug instructed?
